KUCHING: About 100 participants attended a seminar entitled “Managing the Challenges of Today’s Teachers” organised by Open University Malaysia (OUM) yesterday.

The seminar, held at the OUM Kuching campus, was attended by teachers and other staff from various schools under the respective divisional education offices (PPDs) namely Kuching, Padawan, Samarahan, Bau, Serian and Sri Aman.

The seminar was presented by Dr. Angie Garet, a counselling and psychology lecturer at the Institute of Teacher Education Tun Abdul Razak Campus, Kota Samarahan.

Teaching has been considered a noble profession by people for various reasons, with one of the most common being that teachers help to educate future generations. More generally, some have described teachers as “agents of the future,” because they help people develop the skills necessary to take on new challenges and contribute to the nation in a meaningful way.

In view of the significant roles that teachers play, it is very important that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to help them face the challenges plaguing the teaching profession today.
