SIBU: A group of teenagers got injured after their car crashed into a traffic lights post at Jalan Pahlawan on Monday (March 22).
The State Fire Department operations centre said they received a distress call about the accident at 9.55pm.
Firemen from Sibu who went to the scene found the car wrecked. It is believed that the car went out of control before it rammed the post.
The five persons — three boys and two girls, aged between 16 and 19 — were helped out of the vehicle by passers-by before the firemen arrived.
The team only provided early treatment to one of the victims who looked weak and almost fainted. After that the victim was taken to Sibu Hospital.
The firemen also removed the car’s battery as smoke suddenly came out from the engine compartment. They then sprayed the car with a fire extinguisher.
