Outstanding 2017 Cambridge results for Lodge Int’l School

KUCHING: Lodge International School obtained outstanding results for the October/November 2017 Cambridge IGCSE and AS Level exams, said a press statement yesterday.

The IGCSE cohort maintained the school’s record of excellence, with 50 per cent A*/A results across the board and close to 30 per cent straight A*/A students, while the AS Level cohort broke school records with over one third of students achieving straight As, a feat that has not been seen since 2006.

Two third soft he Core Science students (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) achieved A*/A, while ICT (Information and Communications Technology) candidates excelled with 83 per cent scoring A*/A.

The school’s largest cohort of First Language English students also did exceptionally well, with 70 per cent achieving A*/A, a testament to the ability of our students in mastering language at a native level of fluency.

Other subjects showed marked improvement with over 40 per cent of students achieving A*/A in Art & Design, Economics and Additional Mathematics. Over 50 per cent of students in Science subjects (Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology) attained As, and the Humanities showed remarkable improvement with close to one third of students achieving As, while subjects such as English Language, Psychology and History saw a three-fold increase in A students.

Those with notable achievements were Sia Jia Jhing (Head Girl for 2017) and Lau King Ying who scored 100 marks in the IGCSE Mathematics exam, and are both all-rounders. Straight A* student Samantha Chung, who is a current A Level student and a bouldering enthusiast, says: “It was challenging to balance out schoolwork and other responsibilities, but I had invaluable support from my classmates and teachers, and I’m really happy with my results.”

Lodge International School has sent A Level students on to reputable institutions worldwide, including University of Oxford, University of Melbourne and National University of Singapore, among others.
