KUCHING: The Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Malaysia (Perkim) Sarawak Charity Run will be held on Sept 17.

The charity run, which will be flagged off at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) grounds will feature a 5km Fun Run and 10km Competitive Run.

Managing director of Lea Sports Centre (LSC) Raymond Sim said participants stand a chance to win prizes in the Lucky Draw, thus making the event more thrilling.

“In the spirit of healthy competition, cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 male and female finishers in the 10km run category,” he said during the handover of lucky draw items here on Wednesday (Sept 6).

“With over 1,000 participants already registered, the event promises to be a celebration of athleticism and community spirit,” he said.

He stated that the partnership between LSC and Perkim Sarawak marks LSC’s dedication to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community engagement.

“We aim to make it a memorable event that not only fosters fitness but also contributes to the betterment of society,” he said.

“Though the registration is already closed on Aug 31, we decided to keep it open for between 50 and 100 participants from among the public.

“It’s first come, first served so we hope people will register as soon as possible,” he added.

Deputy Minister of Economy and President of Perkim Sarawak Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib will be attending the event and MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng will be given the honour of flagging off the charity run.

Present during the handover was the Perkim Charity Run and Fundraising Efforts chairperson Datin Azerina Mohd Arip.
