KUCHING: In the first five months of this year, a total of 215 dogs in the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) area were officially licensed.
The mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng, said that during the same period, 541 dogs were captured within the council’s jurisdiction, including sick dogs and carcasses.
He said this during the launching of the 2023 City Cleanliness Month at the Community Hall at Jalan Padungan today (June 1).
Wee expressed his hope that more pet owners would step forward and get their pets licensed, especially following a successful free licensing campaign through the Dog Vaccination, Licensing, and Microchip Programme which was held at the hall from 8 am to 4 pm.
Also present were deputy mayor Hilmy Othman, council secretary Zainab Marzali, and Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) chairman Tan Kai.
