Over 20k doses of Sinovac vaccine arrive in Miri

KUCHING: A special flight from Kuala Lumpur carrying the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine arrived at Miri Airport at 11.15 am yesterday.

The minister in-charge of the Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), Datuk Lee Kim Shin, said the shipment consisted of 21,930 doses.

“There will be more delivered every week as expected after this,” he explained.

The shipment was delivered by a MASKargo plane and its arrival was witnessed by Lee, who is also Transport Minister together with Tourism and Arts Assistant Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting.

The vaccine would be transported by Pharmaniaga Logistics Sdn Bhd, escorted by police, to the designated storage.

“The delivery of the Sinovac vaccine is one of the efforts to speed up the process of vaccination and to achieve herd immunity,” added Lee.

Also present were Miri DDMC chairman and acting Miri Resident Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf, Miri Division health officer Dr Raviwharmman Packierisamy, Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong and Miri Division pharmacy officer Eileen Yi.
