SIBU: More than 4,000 delegates of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) attended the party’s inaugural delegates conference (ADC) and launching of PSB held at Kingwood Hotel here yesterday.

The party leaders included president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, who is also Second Finance Minister and Minister for International Trade and E-Commerce, senior vice president Datuk Tiong Thai King, secretary general George Lo, vice presidents Datuk Ranum Mina, Johnical Rayong and Datuk Masir Kujat. Other personalities included Datuk Joseph Entulu, Datuk William Nyalau, Datuk Sylvester Entri and Datuk Dr Tiki Lafe.

Met after the ADC, Wong said that he was not shocked by former PSB deputy president Datuk Dr Jerip Susil’s resignation.

He however noted that Dr Jerip had only a few days earlier, jointly signed a pledge to be with the party and not to “jump ship” regardless of any offer of benefits or posts.

Wong said Dr Jerip, in resigning from the party, had totally ignored and did not honour the agreement he had signed.

“A political leader who does not stand by his principles normally will lose all credibility.”

However, Wong admitted that Dr Jerip was only human with all his political weaknesses and he left PSB with reasons only best known to himself.

“It is most dishonourable for him to leave us in that manner. There is no political integrity and credibility,” he said.

Wong said it was important for party members to remain united through thick and thin.

“We need politics of comradeship, not the politics of betrayal, otherwise history will condemn us,” he stressed.
