MIRI: Thus far, a total of 46,346 individual lots of native customary rights (NCR) land has been successfully surveyed for issuance of land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code (SLC).

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Tuesday (Sept 21), Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this involved a total area of 55,970 hectares or 138,305 acres.

“As long as our government is the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, we will continue to defend the rights and interests of the people, especially in matters of NCR land as long as the claim is valid according to the law.

“For cases that are still in dispute and being trialled in court, survey works will not be carried out unless the case has been resolved or withdrawn by those involved.

“However, if one wishes to participate in the new initiative of the NCR land survey programme, a new application must be submitted,” he said during the handover ceremony for land titles issued under Section 18 of the SLC here on Monday (Sept 20).
