DALAT:  Some 580 people attended a briefing by the Housing Development Commission (HDC) at Stadium Perpaduan Dalat here.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah welcomed the initiative by HDC in providing housing for the people here.

However, she said HDC’s housing programme catered for those in the B40 category and those who could not afford to buy.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, revealed that a location had been identified here for the proposed housing programme.

“The location is Dalat Service Centre next to Centex and Welfare Complex ongoing projects,” she said when officiating at the briefing yesterday.

According to her, the Dalat Service Centre area was also the location for the proposed Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) station, but it was not known when it would be implemented.

She added that most of the interested purchasers preferred to have houses built on stilts rather than on the ground because they were well aware of the flood problem.
