SIBU: 635 Covid-19 smear samples were collected from active case detection (ACD) in the Rejang Park Zone on Sunday (May 2), according to Sarawak Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing.

When contacted on Monday (May 3), he said 392 samples collected from ACD in Taman Tasik Permai last Saturday had yet to be tested.

He explained that the results for the Rejang Park Zone and the Permai/Jeriah Zone were still unknown and being tested.

Meanwhile, at the ACD in Bahagia Jaya Zone held last Friday, two of the 294 samples were positive for Covid-19.

“In addition, 549 samples were collected from the Tong Sang Zone last Thursday and 10 were positive.”

The final ACD, involving the Ulu Sungai Merah Zone and Taman Indah, was held on Monday.

When asked if there would be another ACD for Sibu after Monday’s, Dr Chin said there were no plans so far.

The Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee, in a statement on April 27, said a large-scale ACD covering seven zones here would be done.
