KUCHING: More than 70 percent of the eligible population in the Limbang division has been administered the Covid-19 vaccines, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
He said 54,489 people or 73.7 percent received the first vaccine dose and 44,131 people or 59.7 percent received their second dose.
He said as of July 22 (Thursday), for the Limbang district, a total of 29,298 people have received the first dose vaccine and 20,574 received their second dose. In Lawas district, 25,191 were given first dose while 23,557 the second dose.
Awang Tengah said the state government will continue to raise public awareness on the importance of vaccination by implementing vaccination outreach programmes.
“This will target the people with limited mobility such as the disabled (OKU) and those who are bedridden. The total eligible vaccine recipients aged 18 and above in Limbang Division now is 73,923 individuals.
“We have also listed the areas where we will move for the vaccination outreach programme which will cover all areas.
“We are targeting those who are eligible, especially those who have received the first dose and any who were left behind, all of them, will get the second dose by August 24. This is our target,” he said.
He said this at a press conference to report on the progress of Limbang Division National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NCIP) on Friday (July 23).
Earlier, Awang Tengah chaired the Limbang Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) meeting and was briefed on the progress of NCIP by Limbang Division Health Officer Dr Norliza Jusoh.
