Over 70 traffic offence notices issued in Serian

JPJ's Road Safety unit sticking reflective stickers on a bus and a motorcycle as part of a safety campaign last Wednesday.

SERIAN: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued over 70 notices for various traffic offences to motorists yesterday.

In a statement, Sarawak JPJ said the integrated operation involved 70 personnel from the department, the police, National Registration Department (NRD), Department of Environment (DoE) and Immigration Department.

NRD officers are seen inspecting some of the motorists’ identification documents.

“The operation was held in conjunction with ‘Ops Khas Hari Raya Aidiladha’ at the Serian JPJ Enforcement Station.

“Seventy eight notices were issued to motorists for various traffic offenses in the three-hour operation with a total of 557 vehicles inspected,” the statement read.

Sarawak JPJ deputy director Erick Jusiang who was present during the operation, expressed his gratitude to all participating agencies.

As part of a safety campaign, JPJ’s Road Safety Unit also doled out reflective stickers to public buses and motorcycles.

A total of 70 personnel from JPJ, the police, NRD, DoE and the Immigration Department, conducted a three-hour integrated operation at the Serian JPJ Enforcement Station last Wednesday.
