KUCHING: More than 700 primary students in the Santubong parliamentary constituency have received school supplies through the ‘Back To School’ Programme.

Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the programme is one of her collaborative efforts with non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Under this programme at SK Salak on Sunday, she revealed that 81 students in the primary school were given aid.

“This is a small but significant step in our efforts to motivate them.

“This is the sixth school we have organised this ‘Back To School’ programme and there are many more schools that have applied to have this programme at their schools,” she said.

Nancy who is Santubong MP said this to the media after completing the Back To School Programme at Dewan As Sakinah, SK Salak.

She said this programme was organised in collaboration with the Sime Darby Foundation, Rotary Club Kuching Central, PEKEMA and the National Welfare Foundation.

“Thank you to all the contributors, especially the Rotary Club and the National Welfare Foundation. Your donation in the form of stationery, bags, school clothes, socks, and school shoes is very valuable to ease the burden on our students’ families and increase their motivation.

“Hopefully, this positive step can to some extent help ease the burden of parents who are less able to provide school supplies for their children,” she said.
