Over 9,000 people in Lawas District yet to get booster shots

LAWAS: More than 9,000 people in Lawas District have yet to receive their Covid-19 booster shots.

Federal Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Henry Sum Agong said although the country was still facing the threat of the coronavirus, the situation was under control.

“The government continues to encourage those eligible but have yet to be vaccinated to do so immediately. This is to protect themselves and others from being infected with the virus,” he said during the breaking of fast event at Kampung Pangi here on Wednesday (April 20).

He reminded the people to continue adhering to the standard operating procedure set by the authorities such as wearing face mask, checking in with the MySejahtera app, physical distancing and getting vaccinated.

During the ceremony, Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) also handed out donations to recipients through the ‘Program Ziarah Ukas’, presented by Henry, who is also the Lawas MP.

The recipients also received free takaful insurance with coverage amounting to RM11,000 per person.

Also present were Lawas District officer Laidin Atok; Nor Affindi, senior private secretary to Deputy Transport Minister; Lawas Agrobank manager Mohd Rabau, Penghulu Tuah Tengah, Lawas Road Transport Department head Teresa Baru and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Bukit Sari secretary Awang Ibrahim.
