KOTA SAMARAHAN: Swift action by a homeowner managed to save his house from being razed to the ground in Taman Samarax yesterday (Sept 27).

The incident happened at around 12.10 pm when the air conditioner in the living room of the house suddenly caught fire.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Kota Samarahan station were promptly despatched to the scene.

On arrival, they found that the fire was already put out by the homeowner using a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher and water.

The fire had completely destroyed the air conditioner and caused about 20 per cent damages to the living room.

The team took over the scene to ensure that there are no embers left at the scene before concluding the operation at 1.10 pm.

So far, the cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
