KUCHING: Any coalition that wants to work with Sarawak after the 15th general election (GE15) this time to form a new federal government must agree to the conditions set by Sarawak.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice president Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that GE15 is the best time to negotiate to restore the rights and interests of Sarawak.

“Any coalition that wins, cannot form a government due to the number of seats that may be insufficient.

“That’s why they now want to court Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) either Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN) or Barisan Nasional (BN).

“For us GPS, this is the best time to negotiate – those who want Sarawak must be willing to agree to the conditions set including their commitment to return the rightful parliamentary seats to Sarawak,” he said.

The GPS chief whip said this after holding a meeting with community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) in Kabong, yesterday.

He explained that the condition is to ensure a better legislative power for Sarawak.

“For that reason, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has not decided who to support.

“However, for that purpose we must ensure a landslide victory for GPS because it will further strengthen our status and position,” he said.

Fadillah called on the ranks of KMKK and the people to lead the party.

“We can’t see individuals, but stick to the party.

“As an individual, I have no problem with the Saratok incumbent Datuk Ali Biju, but not in the struggle. This is for us to demand the rights of Sarawak.

“For example, if he wins, will he fight for the rights of Sarawak like GPS? Moreover, most of their leadership is from Peninsular Malaysia.

“This is what needs to be focused on, if GPS wins – the spirit to fight for the rights and interests of Sarawak as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the Inter-Governmental Report (IGC) is higher,” he explained.
