PADUM to help interim teachers who failed their examination

KUCHING: Persatuan Alumni Dayak Universiti Malaya (PADUM) in collaboration with Sarawak Dayak Educationist Association and lecturers of Institutes of Teacher Education (IPG) in the midst of carrying a programme to help interim teachers who failed their examination and had to be dismissed not long ago.

It is understood that the teachers involved were attending ‘Kursus Temuduga Guru Interim dan Ujian Psikometrik’ in Sibu on 23 and 24 March 2017.

Majority of these teachers were failed in Psychometric Tests.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah when contacted, confirmed that he has given provisions to implement all of the related programme.

He said his message to the teachers affected has been delivered through PADUM President.

PADUM offers assistance to 133 Dayak teachers affected, with 113 people attending the programme while the rest confront with personal problems and could not participate.

Previously, a total of 210 teachers had to be dismissed due to failure in Psychometric Tests but, on the intervention of Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari, Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid has allowed them to extend their services and be given an opportunity to re-sit the examination.

Period of service for the 210 interim teachers were also extended and given a second chance to attend an interview with the Education Service Commission (SPP).

In the meantime, Jobs Malaysia has advertised vacancy for 400 graduate teachers throughout the state.
