KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching branch is compiling the list of food aid recipients in Padungan Constituency under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 6.0 package.

SUPP Kuching branch treasurer Jong Yean Pin said the branch had divided the constituency into 13 areas, with each area assigned to a community leader.

“We will continue to update the list to include as many eligible recipients as possible,” he said in a statement today (June 5).

Jong pointed out that the food baskets would be allocated to each state constituency through different channels, like in the previous year.

He said due to the suddenness of the Covid-19 outbreak last year, the delivery of the food baskets to those in need might not have been well organised.

“This year, we will improve the food basket distribution,” he said.

Jong added that due to the high mobility of people in the urban areas, many people who once lived in the town area of Padungan had since moved out. Therefore, he said many of them could no longer be contacted.

“Likewise, many parents have moved out from Padungan to live with their children in other areas.

“Nevertheless, they can still contact us if they need food aid during the movement control order (MCO) period,” he said.

Those who need food aid can contact SUPP Kuching branch (016-2494633), Bong Lian Huan (012-8978181), and Jong Yean Pin (016-8864855).

Recently, the Sarawak government announced the food aid programme under BKSS 6.0 to ease the burden of affected households in the various state constituencies.
