IPOH: The new president of the Perak Football Association (Pafa), Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has denied a rumour that three import players of the ‘The Bos Gaurus’ team will not have their contracts renewed for next season.

Ahmad Faizal, who is also Menteri Besar, said the three import players, namely, Wander Luiz, Gilmar Da Silva Filho and Leandro Dos Santos Oliviera would be retained to face the 2019 season.

‘’The three import players will be retained and the rumour on the social media is totally untrue,’’ he told reporters after launching a mass circumcision organised by the Tambun Parliament People’s Service Centre here yesterday.

He was asked to comment on a rumour which went viral on Facebook since Thursday over the three Brazilian players whose contracts were purportedly not being extended as the Perak team would be looking for new import players.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizal said he did not have any problems holding the PAFA’s presidential post and at the same time carrying out the duties of a menteri besar.

“I am confident the post (of Pafa president), despite being a heavy responsibility, will not give me problems to administering the state government. This is because everyone in PAFA has his respective role to guide PAFA next season,’’ he said.

‘’The role of president is more towards deciding policies and ensuring sponsorships can be boosted so we can take good care of the team and ensure the momentum of Perak’s success can be retained next season,’’ he said.

PAFA’s extraordinary congress on Thursday night unanimously appointed Ahmad Faizal as president and State Secretary Zainal Azman Abu Seman as deputy president of the association to replace Datuk Adly Shah Ahmad Tah who was appointed the manager of The Bos Gaurus squad. –Bernama
