KUCHING: The Health Ministry’s office in Pakan District has ranked top in Sarawak for its speed in vaccinating locals in the area.
Julau MP Larry Sng said as of July 8, 82 per cent of those eligible for Covid-19 vaccine had received their first dose.
“The vaccination centres (PPVs) have extended their services to assist those from nearby districts.
“This is due to good strategy, planning and efficiency in execution. Congratulations to our frontliners,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (July 8).
Sng revealed that for Pakan, those who turned 18 by Dec 31 this year would be eligible to receive the vaccine.
“This is on condition that they have consent from their parents or guardians.”
In a separate post, Sng said the food pack distribution for Pakan residents started on Thursday.
“Today, 81 longhouse heads received about 1,301 food packs. Distribution was conducted swiftly.”
Sng said similar food pack distribution would be conducted in Julau. He added that distribution would be conducted until July 11 (Sunday).
“If there are any longhouse left out, don’t worry, my staff will arrange for the food aid to be sent.”
He also presented grants worth RM126,000 to five non-governmental organisations and four longhouses in the Julau area.
