KUCHING: The Pan Borneo Highway, once completed, is going to be a game changer. It will bring major changes because when people are able to access the markets, demands for their products will rise.

Sahrain Maloh, Manager, Corporate Communication and Land Sub-unit, Pan Borneo Highway Unit, Jabatan Kerja Raya Sarawak, when contacted here on Monday (Nov 15), added that the completion of the Pan Borneo project would also change the economic opportunities in rural areas.

He was asked to comment on the Julau package of the Pan Borneo Highway which was already completed as announced by Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf recently.

Fadillah also disclosed that, overall, the Pan Borneo Highway was already 80 percent completed.

“New opportunities from agricultural activities, transportation, interactions, tourism, and much more are bound to fall into place once the expansive road network is built,” Sahrain said.

“Other than that, it can be fed by feeder roads from the villages and longhouses in the interior in line with the inclusive policy of the government agenda,” he added.
