KUCHING: The parents of a 28-day baby boy who died will be charged for murder which calls for death penalty if convicted.
Both the husband aged 29 and wife, 41, from Taman Samaindah, Samarahan were arrested at the Sarawak General Hospital morgue at 1.30pm yesterday. The husband is jobless and the wife, a waitress in a coffeeshop.
State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Denis Leong, when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune, confirmed that a baby boy of 28 days was found to have died of bleeding in the head yesterday morning in a autopsy conducted.
The bleeding was due to the force of a blunt object inflicted on the head.
Leong said the parents brought the boy to a 1Malaysia clinic on Monday at 3.15pm. The father told the hospital that he only gave the baby a shake when he found him motionless.
After the autopsy was done, police were informed and the couple who was waiting outside was arrested.
Leong said both were detained and their house checked for further investigation. He classified the case under 302 of the Penal Code.
The woman has two other children who have died.
