KUCHING: Fourteen people including a foreign Chinese woman were detained in a drug-fuelled party at an entertainment centre at Jalan Canna here on Tuesday.

District police chief Asst Comm Ashmon Bajah said RM21,000 in compounds were issued to all 14 patrons of the centre during the 10.30pm raid by a team from the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD) as part of Ops Parti Liar.

“During the raid, all the patrons were found partying in a private room.

“All the arrestees were compounded RM1,500 each under Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas)(No.2) 2021. The owner of the premises was compounded RM50,000,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said of the 12 men and two women who were arrested, three of them tested positive for methamphetamine.

“Those found positive are also investigated under Section 39A(2) and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952,” he added.
