Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni

KUCHING: The move by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pujut branch chairman Abu Bakar Amit to leave the party will not jeopardise grassroots’ support for the ruling coalition, said Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni.

He said the issue of party hopping was nothing new and assured that PBB would strengthen its machinery in preparing for the upcoming State election.

“Their decision to leave will not jeopardise the grassroots’ support at the branch level, especially in DUN Pujut.

“In fact, their decision would definitely raise various reactions of the party members on their actions,” he said in a statement today.

Lukanisman opined that the departure of its former members to an opposition party showed that PBB had always been open to criticism while consistently producing successful leaders.

“We, PBB members in Miri will remain calm as our leaders are aware of such action,” he added.

On rumours that the former member will contest in Lambir, Lukanisman said such challenge was welcome.

“Of course, we welcome such challenge and we will ensure that DUN Lambir will continue to be helmed by PBB.

“We are confident that under the leadership of the YAB chief minister, we will continue to create healthy political debate despite of our different political ideologies,” he commented.
