KUCHING: Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sarawak said they are ready for the upcoming 12th State Election and 15th General Election.

PAS Sarawak commissioner Jofri Jaraiee said the party has identified several constituencies where it would contest in.

“For the record, PAS has gone on the ground to meet the community although we have not won in past elections,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He said the significant votes obtained by the party in past elections albeit without political cooperation proved its strength at the grassroots level.

“We are confident that we will be stronger and win as presently PAS is part of the Federal government.

“PAS Sarawak will nominate Sarawakian candidates from various academic backgrounds and as well as activists that are able to meet the aspirations of the people.

“The ability of local party leaders in raising various issues in the mass media showed that they are working hard to serve the people,” he said.

He said taking into account the current political development, PAS Sarawak was free to contest because there was no discussion or cooperation with other political parties in the state.
