Pat on the back for KKB Engineering for assisting in Sarawak’s development

KUCHING: KKB Engineering Berhad involvement in oil and gas engineering and construction, steel fabrication and other services for the last 60 years has managed to help in developing Sarawak.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said, he saw the potential of KKB since 35 years ago when he was the Minister of Industrial and Development, there was investment coming to Sarawak.

“The state need people to service this investor, particularly when we want to develop Samajaya. And one company that I knew, that could assist and help the investors was KKB.

“With the availability of KKB, one of the companies that can give services to these investors, the confident level keeps on rising.

“And as result, we became more confident to provide services to investors, thus successfully attracting more investment to Sarawak up to today,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the KKB’s 60th Anniversary Dinner celebration at Riverside Majestic Hotel last night.

He also shared that KKB also managed to gain the confidence of the oil and gas sector, Petronas, and was awarded with various projects including for the offshore structure,

“And now, KKB Engineering Berhad Founder and Chariman Datuk Seri Kho Kak Beng is grooming the second generation of KKB, from his son. The third generation and beyond will be more fortunate because there are individuals who will share practical experience with them later.

“The experience is only here, it cannot be experienced at the university,” he said.

Abang Johari then congratulated KKB for their good and strong services throughout these 60 years.

“As we celebrate KKB’s anniversary tonight, we also need to look ahead. What can be achieved and what Sarawak have in store for the next 60 years,” he said.

He also said that in the next 60 years, if the state has a very strong and stable government, the politics is well structured and are people centred as well as the state economy is well defined with its direction, the future is bright.

“We pray to God that people of Sarawak are united and we have visionary leaders including people after me and we become an economy that embracing the global economy towards green economy,” he pointed out.
