KUCHING: In this day and age, many young people are venturing into business, including one from Kampung Sungai Riset.

Mc Crispin Peter Koi, 20, started his business when he was 14 years old in 2017.

“I started out because I was interested in seeing my grandfather succeed in making a vegetable garden and opening a grocery store,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.

In 2017, Crispin’s first business was becoming a makeup artist. In 2019, Crispin’s second business was as a beautician, making eyelash extensions, eyebrow embroidery and manicure/pedicure.

Crispin’s third business was selling biscuits and layered cakes in 2020. In 2021, the fourth business was making cakes and desserts. It is his full-time business now.

“I promote my business through Facebook, TikTok and WhatsApp.”

He sells his cakes between RM15 and RM800, depending on customers’ requests. The makeup service is from RM150 to RM600. Prices for decorations are from RM450 to RM5,000.

“I want to be successful and to expand my business.

“My message to those starting out is to not give up, keep trying, don’t complain, stay patient in the face of challenges and obstacles.”
