KUCHING: Visitors at the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar (BRR) MADANI Metrocity Matang can claim an e-wallet worth RM20 throughout the month of Ramadan.

Deputy Minister of Trade And Cost of Living (KPDN) Senator Fuziah Salleh said that RM40,000 has been allocated to the Hawkers Association and a total of RM2,000 e-wallets distributed overall.

“Hence, we urge the public to shop here and take advantage of the e-wallet offered throughout the month of Ramadan.

“Our strategic partner, SPay, will assist in managing this for both traders and visitors to use the e-wallet,” she said.

She said this when met by reporters after officiating at the MySaveFood programme in conjunction with the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar at Metrocity night market here on Friday.

According to a statement from KPDN, she also revealed that this proactive step was taken to encourage digital-based businesses, especially in the retail sector through the Retail Digitalisation Initiative (ReDI).

This step aims to increase exposure to traders and users using e-wallet facilities while trading.

Meanwhile, Fuziah touched on Ramadan bazaars that offer menus priced at RM5 and below.

She said, the features of the BRR bazaar entails having at least 40 per cent of traders offering food at these prices.

“In this (Metrocity) bazaar, 76.5 per cent of traders offer affordable menus. This is an initiative of KPDN to reduce the cost of living for the community.

“At the same time, providing opportunities for every strata of society to shop at Ramadan bazaars during the fasting month,” she explained.
