KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pantai Damai branch will not be complacent in its preparations for the upcoming state election, said its assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

He said, despite the area being a PBB stronghold, it should not be a reason for branch members to underestimate any challenge from the opposition and continue to work hard to ensure that the area will be helmed by the party.

“We have been identified as a stronghold and also classified as a white area, but that shouldn’t make us feel too comfortable. Our election machinery has to work hard either way,” he said.

He was speaking during a dialogue session with branch members at Kampung Semarang on Thursday night.

Dr Abdul Rahman who is also Utilities Assistant Minister (Water Supply) said the party would campaign systematically and that all election machinery in the area had been allotted tasks and responsibilities.

He advised the branch members and its grassroots to continue to work together to ensure that the tasks given to them were implemented smoothly.

“We need a close bond between the branch level and the grassroots in order to face the upcoming state election. We need a system in which the machinery is always ready when given their task,” he said.

He also said that it was important for each member of the branch to work as a team leading up to the state polls.

“We cannot make history with only one person, instead we need to work together,” he said.
