KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Mulu is currently in the process of setting up its 12th sub branch to cater for its ever-increasing members, Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala said.
“PBB Mulu now has 11 sub branches and now we have a total of 4,659 registered PBB members in Mulu. This figure is just below 50 percent of our total registered voters in Mulu which is 9,442.
“We are in the process of setting up our 12th sub branch which is Seridan plus a few more,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Nov 27).
Earlier on Friday, Gerawat officiated at the launch of PBB Mulu’s new sub branch, namely PBB Poyut Nibong 2 at the Marudi Civic Centre.
PBB membership in Mulu is growing and there are 192 new members who joined the party from the new sub branch as well as from the PBB Tutoh sub branch, he shared.
“We are proud and protective of our party as a very strong and stable political party. PBB has been the backbone of the ruling party in Sarawak for a long time since Barisan Nasional (BN) era until now under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“The strength and stability of PBB is due to its long-established political culture and principle among which are loyalty to the party and belief in the party’s cause as spelt in our party constitution,” he said.
Gerawat also said the party’s strength and stability were due to the strong discipline among party members who were loyal to and respected the party’s leadership.
Despite PBB making up a simple majority in the state legislature, their members remain loyal to the coalition partners, namely Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), he pointed out.
“That is why we formed GPS as a vehicle to include all our loyal partners.”
