KUCHING: The election machinery of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pantai Damai Branch was urged to prepare for the upcoming state polls which can be held anytime from now.

PBB vice president Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said it was important that emphasis be given on collaboration among PBB leaders at branch level.

“What is important now is to prepare our election machinery for the upcoming state election,” he said during a ‘Randau Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)’ at Kampung Jaya Bakti here on Saturday night.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Pantai Damai assemblyman, said the upcoming state election would be the first under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“So, we need to ensure PBB emerge victorious and that the chief minister is given a strong mandate to administer the state,” he said.

He added that every time there was a state election the challenge would be from the opposition who are working to unseat PBB in Pantai Damai.

“To overcome this challenge, we need to ensure that our machinery is fortified and prepared to face anyone who tries to enter our area,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman said, the past results by the party at the constituency should not be a reason for the election machinery to be overly confident.

“We can’t underestimate the opposition, instead we should ensure that the people are turning up to vote for our candidate,” he said.

Also present were PBB Pantai Damai secretary Merdehi Mas and PBB Kampung Jaya Bakti branch chief Sulaiman Mon.
