STATE ELECTION

MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau believes with the strong support of the people and the right campaign strategy, Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) will win big in Telang Usan in the next state election.

“The GPS state government has drawn up comprehensive long term development plans for Telang Usan. Unlike the opposition, we are serious when talking about delivering development and transformation strategy,” he said.

Citing various development projects that had been delivered, Dennis said the current state government should not be changed if it had performed well for the people.

“Give your total support to GPS to ensure our win,” he said.

Speaking at the PBB Women’s Apoh branch New Year gathering held on Saturday at a leading hotel here, he added the people should understand the state government’s vision of delivering more development to rural areas.

For the 12th state election due in April 2021, he said Telang Usan election machinery has been activated.

“Our service centre in Luak Bay here has been transformed into an election operation room to assist our constituents in the coming election,” he revealed.

This time around, the nomination and voting centre for Telang Usan is most likely to be in Long Lama instead of Marudi. Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg declared open Long Lama’s 573-metre long Bridge on August 8 last year.

The RM67.1 million bridge was fully funded by the state government.

The bridge shortens the journey to Miri for about 37,000 people who live in Long Lama and its surrounding areas.

In the last state election (2016), Dennis (under the Barisan Nasional flag) secured the seat for the second term with 3,231 votes to win over PKR Baram chief Roland Engan (3,064 votes).

Also present at the gathering were political secretary to the chief minister Charles Balan Seling; Kayan paramount chief Temenggong Elizabeth Ding; PBB Telang Usan Women chief Margaret Nawan; and Dennis’s wife Debbie Irang.
