SERIAN: Election workers of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) have been told to get the people, especially the elderly, more familiar with the coalition’s logo ahead of the 12th State Election.
The call comes from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu women’s chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah on the grounds that this is the first time the ruling coalition will be contesting the polls using its current logo.
As such, she said this could pose a challenge for GPS as there may be some people who may not be familiar with its logo.
“Maybe the people are more familiar with the Barisan Nasional (BN) logo, so they need to be told about the current GPS logo.
“This is what we have been doing. The women’s movement has been disseminating the GPS logo and hopefully what is done is successful,” she said.
She was speaking at the Bukit Semuja PBB Women meeting held at the Ranchan Multipurpose Hall, here on Tuesday (Nov 9).
Fatimah added that the PBB women’s wing also wants GPS to win with a convincing majority to enable Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to continue holding the chief minister’s post.
“It will help Sarawak form a stable and strong government with strong support from the people – we want the next government to be a GPS-led government.
“Besides that, a GPS-led government is also the most credible at the moment. Alhamdullilah Abang Johari’s track record since becoming the chief minister has been great and has led to many changes in the state,” she said.
