KUCHING: The relationship between Sarawak and the federal government will be further strengthened with the appointment of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as prime minister.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth said with the Bera MP at the helm, new life would be breathed into the nation’s administration.
“We fully support the decision of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg in stabilising the country’s politics.
“PBB Youth would like to congratulate Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri on his appointment as prime minister.
“With this appointment, we hope that he will be given the opportunity and room to formulate policies and plans to address the Covid-19 crisis and the economy for the benefit of all,” it said in a statement today.
The statement was issued jointly by PBB Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu and his deputies, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman and Miro Simuh.
They said the intention of the GPS-led state government was to manage the state well and not be plagued by power struggles.
“At the same time, the Sarawak government will continue to focus fully on tackling the rising Covid-19 infections in Sarawak,” they added.
The PBB Youth said it was confident that the state government would emphasise on recovering the state’s economy post pandemic.
“This is through the implementation of the Sarawak Economic Recovery Plan which was announced recently for the sake of the people of Sarawak,” it said.
