KUCHING: The uniqueness of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) lies in its values, which are deeply entrenched in the core of the party’s principles.

Outgoing PBB Youth chief Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu said the very same principles existed and remained the foundation of the formation of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in 2018.

“GPS is a coalition to be reckoned with – we dare to stand alone to ensure that GPS is not subservient to others.

“In GPS, we believe only Sarawakians know how to run Sarawak and chart our own future.

“Only GPS knows how to review our mistakes and make do of our relevant laws and ordinance that have been cast in stone in our Federal Constitution.”

Rentap, who is also Deputy Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development, said this at the joint opening of the PBB Youth and Women wings triennial delegates convention (TDC) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here on Friday (June 17).

He went on to say that with a visionary leader like Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the state was on a progressive footing for the future.

“Multiple key and new economic sectors have been introduced such as hydrogen, oil and gas, Development Bank Of Sarawak (DBOS), Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS), in line with PBB’s struggle for the welfare of the people.”

Recalling the recent state election, Rentap pointed out that the culture of loyalty and cooperation among members was the party’s pillar of strength and gave people confidence, with this being proven when GPS won 76 out of 82 seats.

Rentap added that the Youth wing had spawned nine assemblymen, two political secretaries and two deputy ministers—himself included—and many others who hold important positions.

“Never before in the history of the Youth and Women wings has such clear recognition, mandate and confidence been given by the top leadership. Well done, Pemuda and Wanita!”

The TDC saw the amendment of the party’s constitution and the establishment of a special PBB Youth Wing to cater to youths aged 18 to 28.
