SIBU: The Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) has identified several parliamentary seats where it has strong support from Dayak voters.

Its president Bobby William told the media after chairing the party’s annual general meeting (AGM) here on Sunday (March 27), his party would consider whether to contest in the 15th general Election (GE15) or not.

However, he explained, PBDS has identified several seats where the party has the opportunity to win the votes of the Dayak community.

“We will consider contesting in the next GE15. But take part in or not, we are still considering.

“And for that, we have identified some seats that will provide opportunities for PBDS,” he said.

Bobby however refused to reveal the seats they have identified.

“We can’t reveal anything for the time being, but when the time comes, we will. I can’t talk about it right now because the GE15 isn’t yet called and we don’t know when it will be held.

“But it doesn’t matter as the party is ready to consider the matter,” he explained.

In this regard, he said that PBDS was open to work with any other opposition party or coalition.

During the meeting, he said that party members agreed to use the name PBDS which was previously known as PBDS Baru.

“We discard the ‘Baru’ (New) and we use PBDS as the original name of the party before. It is more appropriate and pleasant to hear by maintaining the originality of the party’s name,” he said.

At the meeting, Bobby retained his post as president for the 2022-2025 session. The meeting also elected three deputy presidents – Major (B) Moses Ripai, Julius Enchana and Kipli Ayom.

Others elected were Sai Malaka as secretary general, Saini Kakong (treasurer), Andrew Bungie Ipang (Information chief), Robert Saweng as the youth chief while Susan George is women chief.
