KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) president Cobbold John Lusoi has passed away this morning.
He died of a heart attack around 7am at his home in Kuala Lumpur.
PBDSB secretary-general Anthony Nais confirmed this in a brief press statement shortly after his demise.
Cobbold, who would turned 57 next week, left behind a wife and three daughters.
His remains are expected to be flown back to Kuching and enroute to his hometown Simunjan for burial rites either later this evening or tomorrow.
Nais said Cobbold, who was serving his first term as PBDSB president after being elected to the post in 2016, had been admitted IJN Kuching sometime end of last year for heart problem.
According to undisclosed sources, Cobbold’s heart problem was quite serious.
He was said to have gone to Kuala Lumpur as his wife, who is working with an oil and gas company resides in Kuala Lumpur. His children are said to be residing in Australia.
Cobbold assumed the PBDSB presidency from the party’s first president Louis Jarau. PBDSB current deputy president is former Member of Parliament and a lawyer Patrick Anek Uren.
