KUCHING: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) has named forty year-old Freedy Misid as its potential candidate for Bidayuh-majority seat Opar in the coming state polls.

In announcing this PBK president Voon Lee Shan said Freedy holds an Executive Diploma in Business Management from the Open University of Malaysia (OUM).

Besides being a professional therapist, Freedy is also a fitness gym instructor, a qualified Reiki practitioner, yoga and swimming Instructor.

“He worked in many 5-Stars international hotels in overseas and in Malaysia and received many accolades in the tourism and hospitality industries.

“During his years in the tourism and hospitality industries, Freedy met and befriended many famous people including film stars and sport personalities in the world. Many of them were his clients,” said Voon in a statement issued on Tuesday (Aug 25).

Freedy is a passionate Sarawak independence activist prior to joining PBK and believes in the struggle of the party, Voon pointed out.

“He believes that with its resources, Sarawak could be a very successful nation if Sarawak leaves Malaysia.

“He sees Singapore as an inspiration because after Singapore left Malaysia, Singapore is now a renowned financial hub in Asia,” he explained.

He added in Opar, it is observed by Freedy that there is a dire need for better schools, medical facilities, Internet network and roads.

Currently, the Opar seat is held by incumbent Datuk Ranum Mina of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), previously United People’s Party (UPP).

PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh on December last year confirmed that Ranum, one of PSB’s vice presidents, would defend his seat in the next state election.
