KUCHING: Retired senior assistant environmental health officer Peter Asut has been picked by Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) as the potential candidate for the Ba’ Kelalan constituency in the upcoming state election.
PBK president Voon Lee Shan in announcing this, claimed that based on ground assessment, the former civil servant has a “good chance” to win the seat for the party.
Voon said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 15) that Peter Asut was the deputy president of Health Inspectors Union Sarawak from 2013 to 2014 and treasurer general of the Lun Bawang Community Development Society Sarawak from 2017 to 2018.
The PBK president also said Peter holds a Diploma in Environmental Health from the Public Health Institute Kuala Lumpur.
“When under the Ministry of Health, he (Peter) travelled throughout Sarawak, to supervise the implementation of clean water supply to villages under the Rural Health Improvement Scheme Programme (RHIS) to uplift the health standard of rural health community.”
