KUCHING: Several parties have come forward to present Gawai contributions to families of three students of Sri Satok Community-based Children Rehabilitation Centre (PDK).

The students are kidney patient Wilson Rait, 30, who is currently undergoing dialysis treatment at home; the late Aeril Damien Philip who passed away in February 2018 due to bone cancer; and Helwinie Audrey Edwin, 20, who is diagnosed with down syndrome.

The families were presented with the contributions during a simple ceremony held at Pusat Kebajikan Datuk Amar Juma’ani in Satok recently.

According to Sri Satok PDK supervisor Kalthoum Adni, the contributions were in conjunction with the coming Gawai Dayak celebration to share joy with the families of the students.

“In the case of Aeril who passed away two years ago, we continue to present contributions to his family every year including during Christmas,” she told New Sarawak Tribune.

She said the gesture would hopefully ease the burden of the students’ families.

“We also hope many more parties would come forward to contribute to Sri Satok PDK students and their families’ needs especially those who require healthcare with high costs such as kidney disease and cancer.

“Apart from that, we encourage involvement of big organisations in Sri Satok PDK programmes to introduce PDK concept to companies which are looking for different target groups for their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes,” she added.
