KUCHING: Peat fires triggered by the hot weather saw another two cases reported in Miri and Sri Aman and one case in Mukah as of yesterday.
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) revealed that the number of peat and forest fires recorded was 541 statewide from Aug 1 till yesterday, bringing the total areas involved to 2,032.77 acres.
The ongoing firefighting operation at Taman Harmoni in Sri Aman entered its eleventh day yesterday. The operation involved clearing the remaining smoke in the seven-acre area.
Meanwhile, the operation in Jalan Marudi, Miri entered its thirteenth day and was delayed to 6pm.
The firefighting operation at Lot 4041, 4042 and 3709 in Kuala Baram entered its twentieth day.
Bomba is closely monitoring the situation and putting effort to extinguishing the remaining fires.
