KUCHING: A pedestrian was killed after he was knocked down by a car at Jalan Mambong, Padawan on Tuesday.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the man identified as Davimos Edem, 53, hailed from Kampung Seratau.

He said the pedestrian was knocked by an MPV which was coming from the opposite direction at 5.30pm.

“His (victim) absence at home at 10pm prompted his children to search for their missing father and found him in a drain by the roadside unconscious.

“Paramedics were rushed to the scene and attended to the victim but later pronounced him dead due to severe head injuries,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The culprit, a 20-year-old, was located with the help of locals, and he admitted to driving and knocking the victim down.

“The driver claimed he tried searching for the victim at the scene but to no avail and left,” said Alexson.

The remains of Davimos were brought to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) mortuary for post-mortem while the vehicle was brought to the Padawan district police headquarters for inspections by Puspakom and the Chemistry Department.
