BETONG: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is indeed a premier of all races and this is not mere rhetoric, said Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas.

In stating this, the deputy premier pointed out that it is evident through the various policies and initiatives including development projects implemented for the benefit of Sarawakians regardless of their race of religion.

“Since Abang Johari took over the leadership of Sarawak, we can see rapid developments taking place in the state.

He has implemented 121 people-centric initiatives including formulating the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 to ensure the state and its people will go up after the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

“Abang Johari’s policies and initiatives are all for the people, this has successfully established harmony and unity among the people. This harmony, unity and tolerance have enabled the state government to carry out various development projects.

“As such, we hope and we must ensure that the strong unity continues in Sarawak,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the closing ceremony of Seminar Pemerkasaan Institusi Pentadbiran Peringkat Akar Umbi Tahun 2022 Peringkat Betong at Dewan Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan here yesterday.

Uggah pointed out that Abang Johari has achieved many great successes such as the establishment of Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) and various development agencies like Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA).

“During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Abang Johari had allocated RM550 million to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to manage the transmission of the virus in the community which shows how he prioritises the people’s health.

“Moreover, through the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) the state government channeled RM6.8 billion for the welfare of the people. The welfare of people is his priority,” he said.

Uggah added all the initiatives undertaken by Abang Johari and the state government is a testimony of commitment and determination in achieving the aspiration of making Sarawak a high-income and developed state by the year 2030.
