KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy visit from the Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) at his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya here on yesterday (Aug 12).

The courtesy visit led by MPB chairman Baharuddin Dato Mokhsen discussed cooperation between MPB and two ministries, namely the Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Sarawak (MANRED) and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), in the development of the pepper sector in Sarawak.

“MPB hopes that the IPC will be able to promote the name of Sarawak on the world stage,” said Baharuddin when met by the media.

“MPB is pleased to be able to work with MANRED in developing the pepper community in Sarawak since the state is the largest producer of pepper in Malaysia.”

He also said that MPB would also collaborate with MTCP in holding an international event, the International Pepper Community (IPC), which is expected to be held in March or April next year in Kuching.

Also present was Deputy Minister for Agricultural Modernisation and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.
