IPOH: Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) does not want any Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders to interfere in the administration of the state government, particularly in regard to appointment of local authority (LA) council members.

Its secretary, Datuk Seri Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin explained that the eligibility of a nominee was determined before approval by the State Executive Council (Exco) chaired by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

“Which means, from the administration aspect (appointment of council members), the power to appoint belongs to the Chief Minister and Exco.

“Views and suggestions of leaders of component parties need not necessarily be accepted without regard to other matters that may present a bad image and reflect negatively on the state administration,” he told a press conference at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here, today.

Yesterday (Sept 17), media reported that Perak PKR chairman Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal in a statement questioned Ahmad Faizal’s action in not appointing PKR members to LA councils even though the party had sent a list of its nominees two months ago.

Zainol, who is also advisor to the Chief Minister said the issue should not be blown out of proportion as there are only two local authorities involved, namely Kerian District Council (MDK) and Ipoh City Council.

“I don’t wish to prolong this issue as it will disrupt many plans and affect Exco members in administrating the state towards betterment,” he said.

He also hoped Perak PH leaders would carry out the responsibilities entrusted to them by the people rather than issuing statements that would be of no benefit to the state. – Bernama
