KAPIT: Kapit OCPD DSP Freddy Bian reminded policemen here to discharge their duties with commitment and dedication.

“Today is the 212th Police Day. I remind all policemen – rank and file – to discharge your responsibilities with full commitment and dedication.

“We must always remind ourselves that duty comes first because our responsibility is to look after security, peace and stability,” he stressed while officiating at the celebration yesterday.

“On this day, we must also honour all ex-policemen (veterans) and the fallen for their contribution to the force. Many sacrificed their lives to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and integrity during the early years of independence.

“That’s why each year, we invited them (veterans) to attend the function to thank them for their services,” he said.

He also bade farewell to outgoing Special Branch officer DSP Chua Su Hua, who is transferring to the Special Branch headquarters in Kuching.

Chua served as Special Branch officer here for the past three years. He was recently promoted from ASP to DSP.

Freddy also welcomed two officers – Insp Canisius Tinggang, who is attached to the Traffic and Public Order Department, and Insp Siva, who is attached to the Criminal Investigation Department.

At the function, Freddy handed out letters of appreciation to 14 policemen as well as 11 certificates to the committee members of the Police Women Association.
