KUALA LUMPUR: Carmaker Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has resumed nationwide operations of its showrooms and after-sales centres.

In a statement today, Perodua said the re-opening of its showrooms and after-sales centres comes after the resumption of its manufacturing facilities at its headquarters in Rawang, Selangor, recently.

In total, Perodua has 191 sales, 197 service and 69 body and paint centres nationwide.

Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said deliveries have started in stages since this week and the company is expecting more Perodua cars produced and registered in the coming weeks.

“We thank our customers for their patience, understanding and loyalty.

“We expect to be able to deliver nearly all existing orders within the year,” he said.

Zainal Abidin said Perodua is currently evaluating the impact of the lockdown that was introduced on June 1, 2021, on their operations and will announce the revised targets for the year soon.

While Perodua has met the required criteria for employee vaccinations, the company has outlined safety guidelines for its customers when visiting its showrooms and after-sales centres, which includes body and paint facilities.

“These safety requirements include being fully vaccinated, wearing a mask, making an appointment at the sales and or service outlet before making a visit and always observe physical distancing,” he said.

In total, Perodua has about 11,000 people under direct employment and if combined with its suppliers, dealers and contractors, the Perodua ecosystem employs over 70,000 people. – Bernama
