Petronas donates PPE, food rations

KUCHING: National oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to some 600 frontliners in Miri.

A total of 3,500 face masks, 3,500 gloves, 275 hand sanitisers as well as food and mineral water are being delivered by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB), a subsidiary of Petronas to healthcare and enforcement personnel.

PCSB Sarawak Oil Division senior general manager Morris Mail expressed gratitude to the healthcare workers and enforcement personnel working to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Last Thursday, some 600 face masks, 500 gloves, and 30 hand sanitisers, along with food and drinks were delivered to the Royal Malaysian Police.

Similar items will also be delivered to the frontliners of Miri General Hospital, Malaysian Armed Forces, Fire and Rescue Department Miri zone and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency by next week.

The contribution complements recent initiatives by Petronas through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm, Yayasan Petronas and its subsidiaries in Sarawak, to assist Covid-19 frontliners.

Yayasan Petronas has contributed RM20 million worth of medical equipment and supplies to hospitals and healthcare personnel in Malaysia.

Petronas’ subsidiaries, namely Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG), Asean Bintulu Fertiliser Sdn Bhd (ABF), Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PCG), Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB), PCSB – Sarawak Oil and PCSB – Sarawak Gas, have collectively contributed food aid to B40 families in Sarawak.

Petronas also contributed sanitising equipment and personal protective gears worth RM24,000 to the State Fire and Rescue Department.
