KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders should do what they preach but this appears not to be the case at all, said Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Youth chief Michael Tiang.

In press conference yesterday at the SUPP headquarters, Tiang pointed out that PH has so far appointed not less than 15 political advisors from its own coalition parties holding high positions in their government departments or statutory bodies.

He said the latest appointee was that of Tian Chua who was appointed as advisor to Works Minister under Baru Bian.

“In their 9th month as the new government,  we can still recall what they had stated before the 14th general election and over the years, that they will make good their promises of getting professionals to head their departments or advisory role. They have let the people down by making another U-turn on this,” said Tiang.

He added that even in last year’s visit to India, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir said that they would achieve world class standard by hiring professionals as their CEO or directors. “Unfortunately, saying and doing is a different matter to them,” Tiang said.

He himself and lots of other people wished to know how the appointment or hiring of these leaders to head such departments and government-linked companies (GLCs) would benefit the country.

“PH should come clean to state how much were they paid, who is paying them and why is Lim Kit Siang, who was so adamant against such action, is now choosing to remain so silent about it,” Tiang said.

“Even Chong Chieng Jen too is not making any noise over the issue or is he indicating that he dares not speak out against his Malayan bosses or is he too comfortable with his portfolio and prefers to remain silent?”
