PH retains Miri seat

MIRI: Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Chiew Choon Man who is also the Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Miri chief won the Miri seat in the 15th General Election (GE15) with a majority of 6,159 votes.

He polled 39,549 votes against the GPS-SUPP’s Cr Jeffery Phang 33,390 and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Datuk Lawrence Lai (5,209), who lost his deposit.

Meanwhile, Sibuti incumbent Lukanisman Awang Sauni retained the seat by winning 22,150 votes, after defeating his opponents’ Zulhaidah Suboh of PH and Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) president Bobby Wiliam.

Zulhaidah garnered 10,405 votes while Bobby gained 1,361 votes.

Lukanisman won the seat with a majority of 11,745 votes.

The Sibuti parliamentary seat has a total of 58,522 registered voters.

He has been serving the Sibuti constituency since 2018.
